How to look after a calf

How to look after a calf

Equipment

  • A calf

  • Milk feeder

  • Grass or paddock

  • A shade area

  • Water trough

  • Hay

  1. You have to go get your calf

  2. You get a calf bottle

  3. Get some milk

  4. Fill the bottle with milk all the way

  5. Not that full and close the lid

  6. Try to open the calf's mouth with your finger

  7. And feed it with the milk

  8. When you have done feeding your calf

  9. Then go home

  • You should feed your calf every day because they’re just little calf that are taken away from their parents. You will have to feed them anyway or they will be screaming their heads of (you have got to feed them)!!!!

  • You should always have grass or hay around them or in a paddock but you don’t need to because they already have grass in the paddocks when ever you go to feed your calf and when you have do that you should let them in the paddock to jump around and eat grass

  • Grass and milk is very important for the calf so they can grow up and produce milk to the butter, ice cream and yoghurt is the big one same as butter if you didn’t have milk what would you do then? Now that is a question for you to answer.

  • If you have a paddock put your calf in it and if you don’t want your calf to be alone put a couple of others caves in make sure that your calf has a tag on it do something on it that you will find out it is your calf like draw a flower or whatever brings out you and your calf.

  • You should always have a water trough around your calf so when it wants to have a drink it will go to the water trough cheek it twice or once a week.

  • Last and not least spend some amazing time with it if you want to do it every day you can but I can’t because I go to school the only time i can spend time with my calf is the weekends and the school holidays and just get to know each other.

  1. Hi Anusshika,

I sounds like you have heaps of fun with your calf! Are you bringing it to Pet Day? Does it have a name? It is great that you mentioned how a calf needs someone to spend time and that is really important for them to be able to be trained. Do you live on a farm? Maybe next time you could describe more on how to teach a calf how to drink milk because I have had experience with teaching calves how to feed and it is a lot more complicated then just telling it to drink milk!

I like how you have used bullet and numbered points in your instructional writing! Maybe next time you could proof read you work so that there are no sentences that don't make sense or have misspelled words in them. It is good how you added an equipment list and the common points on how to feed it!

    Awesome work, Anusshika,

    Your truly,
    Sophie
